M. Hertzog, M.D., is a
fourth-generation physician and third-generation eye
surgeon. He specializes in the most modern techniques of
cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation. In
addition, he is well-trained in all types of laser
surgery for the eye, including LASIK for
nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. As a
clinical instructor for the U.S.C. Department of
Ophthalmology, he is heavily involved in teaching
resident eye physicians the latest surgical techniques.
Dr. Hertzog was born and raised in Long Beach.
He graduated with Highest Honors from both the
undergraduate college and the medical school of Loma
Linda University. He then spent four years at the
prestigious Estelle Doheny Eye Institute - U.S.C.
Department of Opththalmology. He and his wife
Kimberly (herself an R.N.) have 4 children.
Dr. Hertzog is a board-certified
ophthalmologist who provides total eye care - medical,
surgical, and optical. He and his staff strive to
maintain the same excellent quality patient care that
his grandfather did when he established this
ophthalmology practice over 80 years ago.

Ryan, O.D., has been practicing with Dr. Hertzog
since 2000, full-time since 2006. He performs general and specialty exams on children
through adults, treats eye disease, and prescribes
glasses (including prism correction for double vision)
and contact lenses (including silicone hydrogels,
bifocals, torics, and rigid gas permeables).
Dr. Ryan
grew up in the small town of Kirkland Lake in
Northern Ontario, Canada. He did his undergraduate work
at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and
then obtained his Doctor of Optometry from the Indiana
University School of Optometry. His training
included a 6-month rotation at the esteemed Bascom
Palmer Eye Institute, one of the top eye disease
hospitals in the country.
Dr. Ryan
and his lovely wife Brittney, who is a Speech Therapist,
happily reside in Santa Ana. They have recently added a new member to their little family -- Ella Nicole was born on August 12th, 2008. She is beautiful beyond words and has been an
absolute joy. The Ryans are very happy to be part of the Hertzog Eye Care family.
