:: What Insurance Plans Do We Accept?
We
accept almost all Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans.
With a PPO plan, you can usually see us for an examination
without a referral from your primary care physician (PCP).
However, since there are so many different insurance plans, you
will still need to check your membership book, or call your
insurance company to make sure that we are on their provider
panel.
Unfortunately, we do not accept any Health Management Organization (HMO)
plans.
We
accept one Optical-based insurance called Medical Eye Services
(MES). Again, we must confirm that you have proper authorization
before we schedule your appointment.
REFRACTION
(TEST FOR A NEW GLASSES PRESCRIPTION)
The
refraction test -- to determine what prescription gives you the
sharpest vision in new glasses -- is not covered by most medical
insurance plans. We charge $50.00 for a normal refraction, and
$65.00 if you have problems with double vision, and we must
prescribe prism. We quote all of our patients the appropriate
fee once we determine what type of refraction is necessary, and
you can decide at that point if you would like it done.
CONTACT
LENS EXAMS
Dr.
Ryan sees all of our contact lens patients and prescribes every
type of lens available. Once he performs the refraction and
takes the necessary corneal measurements, he will discuss the
contact lens options that will give you the best visual outcome and the corresponding fees involved.
Unfortunately, there are no medical insurance plans that cover
the contact lens exam or contact lenses, but we have set very
reasonable fees.
NEW
PATIENT CONTACT LENS FITTING/RE-FITTING: $175-$200
This
is a patient who has never had a contact lens exam in our
office, even if you are a current contact lens wearer. This fee
includes the refraction, contact lens training (if necessary),
all trial lenses, and 2 follow-ups within 2 months of the initial evaluation. Follow-ups (if necessary) thereafter will be $50/visit.
ESTABLISHED
PATIENT CONTACT LENS FITTING: $125-$150
This
is a patient who has had a contact lens fitting at our office in
the past. This fee includes the refraction, trial lenses, and 2 follow-ups within 2 months of the initial evaluation. Follow-ups (if necessary) thereafter will be $50/visit.
SPECIALIZED THERAPEUTIC CONTACT LENS FITTING: $300
This
evaluation is for a contact lens patient with a unique corneal
diagnosis that requires more time for the fitting process. For
example, this would include, but is not limited to, patients
with keratoconus, previous corneal transplant, or previous
radial keratotomy.
